Finally we,re out of here

A day of mad, or better late than never packing, and an afternoon drive out the valley under an overcast winter sky. This is when all the build up, planning, apprehension, excitement come together. After a night drinking with a few friends in Albury. Then the packing day for bikes and pannniers began in earnest and flight the same evening. I tend to get a bit pedantic on bike packing, after all if we get there with screwed bicycles we ain't peddlin anywhere. But on the way home we may have to steal a cardboard box from one of the poor street people in Athens, well we would offer them a few drachmas at least.
Then the big cardboard are loaded on to the back of a great friends ute in the rain to the airport added to my/our final afternoon of stress. Would we have to load 2 big soggy blobs of brown papier mache onto the first leg of our long via Sydney town.
Well my dear friends as it happens that was not the half of our stress, it hit a high note when the Qantas check in chick at Albury announced that our excess would be $1,200 buckeroos or $80 per kg excess baggage. Oh and she had the temerity to tell us that it would be $120 per kg if we were being billed by their partner in crime Emirates Airlines. This is Hi Way robbery of the first order!!!!!
But its all settled, we are on the plane and our friend Knut has facebooked with an image of the next weeks weather in Oslo, all is fine, yee haahhh.

On the move. this is the closest to down time. Off the Emirates jumbo & onto the smaller plane bound for Oslo. We sat on an airpor bus from arrival to departure in Dubai then straight onto the next plane for the 7.5 hr trip to Oslo. After I took this one pic a very burly Emirates security came running up to me telling me to stop taking photos.
